Brandon Nimmo, the 2011 first round pick for the Mets in the MLB draft has been voted into the Futures Game, which is set to take place on July 14th at Citi Field.

Here is what Nimmo had to say after receiving the news:

The Savannah Sand Gnats outfielder joins pitchers Noah Syndergaard and Rafael Montero as the other two representatives from the Mets organization.

In 52 games (202 at-bats) in the Savannah League, Nimmo is hitting .277/.378/.371 with one home run, 22 RBIs, six doubles, and five triples. He had a great month of April to start the season (.322/.421/.433), but has since cooled off because of injuries and a recent slump. In yesterday’s victory at Rome, Nimmo went 3-for-5 with a run scored, the first time he’s recorded more than one hit in a game in the last week and a half. Hopefully, he’s getting hot at the right time.

Congratulations to Brandon on getting voted into the game! And a great job to the Mets fan base for voting him in so the home crowd can see him in Flushing in a couple weeks.

Now we just have to make sure David Wright keeps a hold on the starting third base spot for the National League All-Stars. Final results will be revealed Saturday, and you can vote for Wright here: 2013 MLB All-Star game ballot.
