Fresno Grizzlies 6, Las Vegas 51s 3

The 51s (4-3) dropped a game to the Grizzlies on Wednesday night after Chris Schwinden was rocked for six runs.

Schwinden got the start for Las Vegas and struggled to keep the ball in within the confines of the stadium, as he was taken deep three times over his mere four innings of work. He allowed eight hits overall – but he did manage not to walk any, and strike out three. The good news followed, however, as the Vegas bullpen then hurled a combined four hitless innings. You can thank Gonzalez Germen, Justin Hampson, and Dylan Owen for that, as they allowed just a walk over those final frames. Germen struck out three batters over his two perfect frames of work.

The Vegas offense was playing from behind after one inning and never really got it going against opposing starter Chris Heston. Landon Powell did jack a solo home run in the top of the fifth – and Josh Satin stayed hot with yet another long ball, his third so far, which happened to be a two-run shot. That was about all she wrote for this one, though…

By the way, Reese Havens played third base for the 51s last night and is batting .357 ( 5 – 14) with a stolen base so far in 2013.
