Sandy vs. Sandy: A Tale of The Tape
Hurricane Sandy is churning its way up the Eastern seaboard. No, I’m not talking about Mets’ general manager Sandy Alderson. I’m talking about an actual meteorological event here. But now that I think of it, the Mets’ Sandy has a few things in common with Mother Nature’s Sandy.
Let’s take a look at the tale of the tape between Hurricane Sandy and Sandy Alderson to see how similar they are. Hey, it beats talking about all the former Mets who might end up celebrating a World Series victory tonight (Angel Pagan, Marco Scutaro, Xavier Nady, Joaquin Arias and yes, even Guillermo Mota).
Enjoy my attempt at humor in the face of a serious storm and please do your best to stay safe when Sandy arrives – the one that’s not currently in the Mets’ front office!

About the Author: Ed Leyro
Ed Leyro was hatched in the Bronx, but spent most of his youth in Queens at Shea Stadium. Apparently, all that time spent at Mets games paid off as Ed met his wife (The Coop) for the first time at Citi Field during its inaugural season. Guess the 2009 season was good for something after all. In addition to his work at Mets Merized Online, Ed also owns, operates and is head janitor at Studious Metsimus, where he shares blogging duties with Joey Beartran. For those not in the know, Joey is a teddy bear dressed in a Mets hoodie. Clearly, Studious Metsimus is not your typical Mets blog.

Ha! Clever.
Living here on the Jersey shore, I am not looking forward to this storm. Hoping my power doesn’t go out before tonight’s WS game as it’s looking like the Giants are heading for a sweep and their 2nd WS championship in 3 years.
You missed the greatest similarity….
Hurricane Sandy is predicted to devastate the coastal areas….
GM Sandy has already started devastating the roster
Hi Metsie,
I thought the same myself that potentially the most destructive hurricane ever to hit our area is named after our general manager who has arguably been the most destructive force ever to hit our ball club.
Anyone notice that because of Angel Pagan the whole country can get a free taco during a few hours on Tuesday and that Angel now appears on a commercial? Thanks to Sandy our former center fielder is now on the verge of a world championship and that our other former center fielder turned right fielder was just one game away from the world series too.
But hey, in Sandy’s defense, our current center fielder is in the world series too – as a spectator in the stands.
Sandy is a SUPER storm ..Alderson is SUPER G.M.?
Hi Long,
I think the word “super” in terms of being a destructive force, Sandy is the equal of Sandy.
I hope everyone gets through this storm ok. It’s looking like I’m gonna get hit pretty hard so im worried. Stay safe, everyone.
Clever piece, Ed. I, for one, am hoping both Sandys are outta here sooner rather than later.
yeah, I really don’t like seeing my house dead center in the range of where the storm is supposed to steamroll through.
Ditto for down here at the Jersey shore.
It’s not going to be fun.
Amen to that Satish and Stick,
Everyone just be safe and hope for as little property damage as possible.
I’m in a big housing co-operative and might be fortunate because we generate our own electricity independent of con edison and with all the wiring underground a power failure is not so much on our minds as it, of course, the high winds and blowing trees. With that in mind please, everyone, stay away from the windows even though it might seem safe. Branches could break off and shatter glass, etc.
