Mets Lower Minors: Nimmo Goes Deep, Brooklyn Blown Out

Always nice to see some offensive production from Brandon Nimmo.

St. Lucie Rained Out

Official release:

The scheduled Florida State League game between the St. Lucie Mets and Charlotte Stone Crabs on Sunday, August 26 at Digital Domain Park has been postponed due to inclement weather. At this time, the game will not be re-scheduled. The Mets host the Bradenton Marauders in their final regular season home game at 6:30 p.m. (Hope everybody gets out of there safe without any damage from the tropical storm.)

Rome 4, Savannah 3

The Savannah Mets could not muster enough offense to back up Marcos Camarena, who pitched well.

Key Players:

Brandon Brown – 2 for 4, 2B, R

Gilbert Gomez – 2 for 4, 2B, 2 RBI, R

Albert Cordero – 1 for 4, RBI

Marcos Camarena – 6.0 IP: 5 H, BB, 3 R (2 ER), 3 K

Player Of The Game: Solid start from Marcos Camarena, so he will get the honors.

Staten Island 12, Brooklyn 2

The Brookyn Cyclones got a taste of their own medicine on Sunday after blowing out the Yankees the night before.

Key Players:

Brandon Nimmo – 1 for 3, HR, 2 RBI, R, BB

Kevin Plawecki – 1 for 2, BB

Timothy Peterson – 3.2 IP: 5 H, 3 ER, 2 K

Julian Hilario – 0.1 IP: 8 H, 7 R(5 ER), 0 BB/0 K

Player Of The Game: Brandon Nimmo for being the bright spot on offense on Sunday.

Pulaski 6, Kingsport 4

Three more errors for Kingsport lead to two unearned runs en route to a defeat at the hands of the Pulaski Mariners.

Key Players:

Jeffrey Diehl – 3 for 4, 3B, R, RBI

Anthony Chavez – 2 for 3, 2B, BB, R

Jorge Rivero: 1 for 4, 3B, R, RBI

Persio Reyes – 2 IP: 5 H, 4 ER, 3 K

Player Of The Game: Diehl will get the tip of my hat as he performed well in the loss.

Special Notes: The Kingsport Mets have now committed 113 errors, the worst in the Appy league. The Kingsport Mets end their season after two more games with the Pulaski Mariners.

  • Nimmo really starting to look like a good player. Just keeps improving, and more than holding his own with the older guys.

Will certainly be interesting to see how he handles moving up to a higher level, and if he can perform well enough to hit 2 in a year (say, start in Savannah, finish in St Lucie).
