An article by posted on July 13, 2012

Josh Edgin will be added to the 25-man roster today and wear uniform #66. Edgin, 25, was 3-2 with one save and a 3.89 ERA in 35 games for Buffalo (AAA) and struck out 40 batters.

The 6-1, 225-pounder also pitched for Binghamton (AA) of the Eastern League this year, recording two saves and a 1.42 ERA (one earned run/6.1 innings) in six games.

Originally drafted in the 30th round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft, Edgin was a South Atlantic League All-Star in 2011 for Savannah.

He also appeared in 10 games with the Mets in Spring Training this season, and was unscored upon in 10.1 innings

Original Post 7/11.

As expected, the Mets have announced that LHP Josh Edgin will be promoted from Triple-A Buffalo and join the team on Friday when they play the Braves in Atlanta to start the second half of the season.

Edgin went 3-2 with a 3.89 ERA in 35 games for the Bisons this season and in 37.1 innings he has walked 18 while strinking out 40 batters.

In his last ten appearances Edgin has allowed just one earned run in 10.1 innings.

i see this as a great move for the Mets and do believe Edgin will prove to be a solid addition as the second left-hander in the bullpen.

Honestly, I’ve felt that Terry Collins has been in a tenuous position for most of the first half having to navigate through some choppy waters with just Tim Byrdak as the lone lefty.

You could take the handcuffs off now, Terry.
