Frank Francisco Suffers Another Setback In Hs Rehab

Frank Francisco has suffered another setback in his rehab from his strained oblique, Terry Collins told reporters after last night’s 6-3 loss to the Diamondbacks,

Lynn Worthy of the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin reported that the Mets closer had “soreness on his left side.”

Francisco was supposed to pitch in his third rehab game for the B-Mets before getting an appearance with Triple-A Buffalo followed by a potential return to the Mets on Monday or Tuesday. Those plans appear to be in jeopardy now, although Francisco said he hopes to pitch for the B-Mets on Sunday.

This is the second for Francisco since he was placed on the disabled list in late June. He has allowed two runs on four hits in 1 2/3 innings in two rehab appearances with Binghamton.

  • PERSONALLY, I CAN’T HELP; BUT WONDER IF THESE COMPLAINTS AREN’T ORCHESTRATED BY HIS AGENT FEARING BEING DEALT OUTSIDE A BIG MARKET @ THE DEADLINE OR SOME OTHER SELF-SERVING RATIONALE. SEEMS ALL TOO OBFISCATEDLY CONTRIVED AS REPORTS AREN’T EMANATING FROM BINGO TRAINERS

    • Well 62 I do believe that the one thing Sandy insists on is controlling the message!
Especially when MLB players are involved.

As it stands it doesn’t really appear to be a problem that he has had a setback…
When was the last time we had a save situation? The Night Harvey Pitched?

      • METSIE, IT APPEARS AS IF THE CONCERN WAS ALL TOO PREMATURE AS FRANK FRANK P/U A SAVE AFTER THE CONCERN WAS INITIATED, YESTERDAY & SNY IS STILL REPORTING HIM ON TARGET FOR A TUESDAY REUNION BY THE BAY.

    • If this were true, wonder why his agent would care? He gets his cut one way or the other.
I mean, does FF like pitching in NY that much? If we were going to trade him to a contender wouldn’t that be a better opportunity?

I’m wondering too why the third setback since he’s attempted his rehab. Aside from the knee problem he recently had, we all know oblique injuries can be really long in healing. Maybe it’s really nothing more than that.

      • Maybe because somewhere else he wouldn’t have Ramirez on the team to make him look good anymore!

      • SRT, THERE ARE VERY,VERY FEW ADMEN OUT THERE WHO HAS ANY DESIRE 4 A SM MKT TEAM’S CLOSER TO FRONT FOR ANY PRODUCT ANY AGENT WORTHY OF HIS COMMISSION KNOW THAT MO RIVERA IN A COMMERCIAL RECOMMENDING YOUR PRODUCT IS A MUCH BIGGER PAYDAY THAN IF HE REPED SAY KIMBREL

STOP A HUNDRED PEOPLE ON THE STREET IN OMAHA,NE AT LEAST 10 WILL HAVE HEARD OF SOMEONE NAMED MARIANO RIVERA. ANY GUESS HOW MANY WOULD IDENTIFY GREG KIMBREL WITHOUT INCORRECTLY GUESSING HE WAS “THE FUGITIVE” LOL

THAT IS WHY HIS AGEN WOULD CARE IT IS WHY BORAS FIRST SHOPS NY & BOSTON B4 ATLANTA & CLEVELAND. NAME RECOGNITION SELLS CRAP. IF STRAHAN HAD BEEN PART OF STEELERS DEFENSE DO U THINK HE’S HAWKING SANDWICHES FOR BIG BUCKS HIS AGENT GETS A SLICE OF? ESPECIALLY SO LONG AFTER RETIREMENT?

  • I am just devastated that this bum has had a setback. Heaven to Betsy!!!

  • Maybe if he shed a few pounds, there would be less stress on his knees, just saying, not taking personal shots here. :)

  • Got to wonder about the thirty somethings. Way too many of thier bodies are breaking down. Frank is 32 but seems so much older.
