2012 MLB Draft: OF Albert Amora’s Stock Continues To Rise
MLB Dirt recently posted their latest Mock Draft in which they pegged the Mets for top high school outfielder, Albert Almora of Mater Academy in Florida. They write: The Mets have a shallow system and they need high upside guys. They took Brandon Nimmo last year and if Almora is available I believe they would take him. He is a plus defender in center field and has a potential plus hit tool and should add power when he adds muscle to his [...]

MLB Draft: 2012 Mock Draft Version 2.0
To see my previous mock draft from February in which I had the Mets drafting left-handed pitcher Max Fried, click here. 1. Houston Astros – Mark Appel, RHP (Stanford) Why: The Astros don’t appear like the team who is going to go for the risky homerun pick No. 1 overall with Buxton. Appel is having a fine season for Stanford so I think they’ll play this one “safe”.Previous Mock: Mark Appel 2. Minnesota [...]

Mets Ticket Prices On Secondary Market Flat
Despite the New York Mets entering the season with muted expectations, the average price for Mets tickets on the secondary market are comparable to last year’s prices, and in fact are up a bit compared to this time last year. As the prices on the secondary market are set by individual ticket brokers all over New York, they come the closest at reflecting the “true market value” of what fans are willing to spend to [...]

Mets Farm Report 4/17 – Schwinden and Germen Toss Gems, Lights Went Out In Georgia
Buffalo 4 – Lehigh Valley 1 Chris Schwinden turned in a solid performance to improve to 2-1 as the Bisons defeated the Iron Pigs 4-1. Schwinny allowed just one run on four hits and a walk in seven innings of work and lowered his ERA to 2.25 for the season. Jack Egbert followed with a perfect inning of relief, and closer Fernando Cabrera picked up his third save of the season with a scoreless inning. The Bisons got on [...]

No Health Issue With Johan
Santana went just 1.1 innings tonight which was the shortest start of his career. After the 9-3 loss Terry Collins discused why he yanked his ace so early. “Obviously he didn’t hit any of his spots. He fell behind in the count and that’s not him.” Not health related at all as Santana just didnt have the command he had in his first two starts. He missed with his fastball up in the zone and [...]

Dick Clark Dies Of Heart Attack
On a sad note, television broadcasting legend Dick Clark has died of a heart attack today at the age of 82. Clark is best known for hosting blockbuster television shows such as American Bandstand, $25,000 Pyramid, and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. “America’s Teenager” was once asked about his always youthful looks and offered this advice, ”If you want to stay young looking, pick your parents very carefully.” Clark is survived by his 3 children from [...]

Braves Rough Up Santana In A 9-3 Mets Loss
Johan Santana must have got on the bad side of lady luck as he records only four outs in a 9-3 Mets defeat. Summary If you check the box score, you will see a line of 1.1 IP for Santana with 6 R(4 ER), 4 H, and a walk. Santana has never lasted less than three innings in a game, so this is the shortest outing of his career. I can assure you, however, that [...]

Torres Will Be Everyday CF Upon Return, Back To Buffalo For Nieuwenhuis
Terry Collins raised some eyebrows before tonight’s game when he told reporters that once Andres Torres returns from the DL, the plan is as follows: 1) Andres Torres is immediately reinstated as the everyday centerfielder 2) Kirk Nieuwenhuis will go back to Buffalo and not remain in a reserve role. Looks like Mike Baxter’s job is very secure. Original Post 4/14 Here’s a beautiful shot from our new photo partners of center fielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis making [...]

Shortstop Wars Round 1: Reyes Vs. Tejada
I thought it would be fun to track Jose Reyes this season as well as his replacement Ruben Tejada. It will be an interesting case study to see exactly how much the Mets actually lost offensively and defensively by replacing Reyes with Tejada, and if that difference is worth the $106 million dollars it would have cost to retain him. The great thing about this from a fairness perspective, is that they both bat leadoff [...]
