How ‘Bout Them Cowboys… Err Mets…

After tonight’s series win against the Rockies, the Mets filed out of the clubhouse one by one dressed in western garb as they head down to Houston, Texas for the start of a three game showdown with the Astros.

Here are a few pictures courtesy of the Mets.

Ruben Tejada & Dillon Gee look like outlaws.

Jon Niese is heading to the saloon for some whiskey.

Don’t mess with Ike Davis, the fastest gun in the west.

Sheriff R.A. Dickey is the law in these here parts.

  • Tejada reminds me of a young Yul Brynner with that costume.

    • Now that You’ve mentioned Yul Brynner, the player that reminds me of Yul the most is Raul Ibanez. If you ever saw “A King and I”, he’s a dead ringer.

  • Dickey really looks like a cowboy but the travel luggage just throws everything off. Quick someone Photoshop it away.

  • i li9ke the idea of dressing like a texas guy, but the toy weapons and sheriff stars ? kind of weird, but i guess in a long season you have to make some fun . I tell you what , they can line up in a spongebob squarepants costume if they want, just get 2out of3 from Houston . LETS GO METS

  • I hope Dickey remembered to take that gun and holster off before he tried to board the plane. Also, doesn’t Niese look a little like Shane from the Walking Dead in his photo?

  • Dickey isn’t wearing a costume. that is his casual dress.

Can you imagine trying to fly coach with a toy gun strapped to you?

  • This was “rootin’ tootin” hilarious, don’t know where this idea came from lol.

    • It’s because they were flying into Houston, or so I read. No word on who’s idea it was. There are more pictures out there. Johan and Wright got in on it, too.

    • My question is did they go out as a team to a western wear shop or did they have some poor guy that had to go shop for them?

      • Looks like some errand boy was given a grand to go do some costume shop damage and bring back a nice smorgasbord. You can see Tejada’s shirt is a little big and there’s pictures floating around of Turner with pants that are too small in all the wrong places.
