Mets Are Pretty Much Done Making Moves
MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo hears that the Mets are done making moves at major league level.
I’m told #Mets are done adding players to the 40-man. Could still make a minor league deal or two before ST, but nothing major.

Looks like we pretty much know who we’re going to war with…
I can’t wait for Spring Training to start.

Moves?…We made moves this winter?….You call those moves?…Really?
The biggest move we made was “The Wall!”
Going to war with…..a starting rotation that has one above average pitcher at present?
And he’s 13,000 ft above sea level presently
wow. My Entire Team Sucks.
Might as well trade Wright for some prospects.
Alderson is soon going to find out that he’s not in Oakland.
Will people wear paper bags? Will they even show? Will they show just to protest?
I definitely need to adopt another team at least temporarily. Yankees, Phillies and Braves aren’t an option. Reyes and the Marlins? Red Sox and Bobby V? Nationals and their youth? Hmmmm
I think there is a word for that type of fan.
What kind of fan am I if I root for Omar Minaya and the Padres?
I will always be a Mets fan but realistically if everything goes well we’re a .500 team.
I’ll tune in to Gary, Keith and Ron but I will also be rooting for Jose, Bobby V and Omar.
Well, David Schonfield of ESPN just did a position-by-position ranking of the NL East teams. His results:
1. Phillies, 58 points
2. Braves, 56 points
3. Marlins, 49 points
4. Nationals, 48 points
5. Mets, 29 points
Thanks to the Wilponzis!
What is so frustrating about the Mets being strapped for cash right now is the fact that you aren’t going to see so many high end-players available all at once for quite some time. Teams like the Angels, Marlins and Nats managed to make themselves major contenders, and the Amazins missed out on it.
Amen, CC.
Mets bringing a knife in the NL East gunfight.
Yeah, a butter knife!
Sandy stopped improving the team the second he arrived. It’s deck chairs off the Titanic time.
Ugh. The belt gets tighter and tighter. I’m excited to see what young guys like Davis, Duda, and Tejada can do and hopeful Wright can get back on track. But other than that there’s nothing much to see at CITY Field. I’m tired of seeing Bay’s face in a Mets uniform.
Whatever Wright can bring to the fight will be a matter of his will power. How can a guy whose teams have risen to nearly to the top be motivated with what the Mets are putting on the field? It’s his personal integrity, not the conviction that his team is competitive in the East, that will lead David to do what he can. Maybe good luck will have him traded to a contender. With David and Jose gone, the Mets will really suck.
Sad thing is Des, Wright will be gone as will Davis and Niese sometime soon. Wright may be gone if he has good ST. NOT FOR PROSPECTS, BUT AS COMPLETE AND UTTER SALARY DUMP. I contend Niese and Davis will go because the Mets; during this rebuild, with a tenuous cash flow, need cost certainty. That is, they can’t take a chance that an arbitration award outside CRG’s 5 year budget plan will afgect their budget for salary and expenses. This to me was why you heard whispers of their availability during the winter meetings, and why I anticipate them both being dealt
before they get to arbitration next winter/
spring, especially if they have good years.
depressing . . . . .lets start flooding the commish’s office with letters
This mets oraganization is a disgrace for their fans, I feel they just don’t care sandy, the wilpons. It’s not right to contiune this way for the city, their fans and evrything that comes with for winning. The wilpons have a horrible history of owning this team. I mean where does anyone see different. I’m hurt, Really hurt with these owners. Not even try to get a pitcher, where there still some out to be had.
Done?..i still think if a free agent falls thur the cracks cheap and wants some pt we may sign him…otherwise,,here’s how i see it..

I think I’d prefer to see a 5 man bench with an additional long man in the pen. I have little faith that the starting rotation will pitch deep enough into games on a consistent level to not have the BP worn out.
yea, id be totally cool w that too, RJohnson in Buffalo and either Carrasco, Beato, Acosta in the pen works for me too.Or maybe Batista gets a few starts in Buffalo first, however the brass decides to work it..but early season usually more rest days so might not need extra guy in pen,,plus ive alway been a fan of 3 cathers i guess it would be better if the our cathers had more talent !!
All this done in the name of “rebuilding”, “money ball”, “sabremetrics” and “the ushering in of a new philosophy”.
I wonder if the Wilpons have insulated themselves so much that they don’t realize the fans won’t put up with them any more. If the franchise was sold tomorrow I bet even with the team they presently have more fans would show up. Or am I wrong on this?
No, it’s done in the name of “we have no money”. You may have heard the odd rumor here and there that the team and the owners have some financial issues.
Complaining??? You are all wrong. Folks like Jessup say the budget is the most important thing!!!!!! Don’t we all go the games to worry about and discuss the Wilpon budget!!!!!!!!
This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone who’s been paying attention.
They needed to start the season with a budget south of 100 MIL. Do the math….that pretty much told us all deals that were made to buy players were going to be on the low end/one year type.
The only thing that remained to be seen was any type of trade they might have been looking at – specifically those in the salary dump categories. Like others, I’m willing to bet all efforts going forward will be a Wright trade getting as much as they can for him. I’m sure the business model that consulting firm lays out does not include Wright’s salary on the NY Mets going forward…..
Yeah, I think I read yesterday somewhere that based on salary arbitration guesses they would still be at or slightly over 100.
I am at about 92M on my guess for the 25 man roster then you still have to count the other 15 and then anything I have missed like paying off Bobby Bo…
Looks like we pretty much know who we’re going to war with…”
WAR??? seriously?? this is pathetic, the man had another HORRIBLE offseason, back to back now but NO, craig make sure to dismissed that..
“Mets Are Pretty Much Done!”
This should have been the title to this posting.
Done on making moves? Nah, more like we’re done PERIOD! Goose is cooked!
Uhhh, I don’t think moving the outfield wall or Fred, Jeff and Saul doing the “Curly Shuffle” count as “moves”. Do they?
I seriously don’t get how people expected anything different. They had no money, no money they had, there is no money, the Mets have no money, the money is not there, money there is not…
If no more moves i wonder what the payroll is 2012, i guess in the $90′s, sub $100 million dollar payroll ..
I feel good things from this team we have. For example:
Torres CF .300 12 HR 71 RBI
Murphy 2B .308 25 HR 91 RBI
Wright 3B .315 33 HR 102 RBI
Davis 1B .301 38 HR 121 RBI
Bay LF .297 28 HR 98 RBI
Duda RF .285 30 HR 100 RBI
Tejada SS .277 2 HR 50 RBI
Thole C .271 9 HR 63 RBI
Santana P 15 Wins 2.65 ERA
Dickey P 12 Wins 3.76 ERA
Niese P 16 Wins 1.98 ERA
Pelfrey P 14 Wins 4.55 ERA
Gee P 17 Wins 2.65 ERA
Francisco 45 Saves
i like, i think we can compete…as always…..LETS GO METS
LOL, I love it but seriously, I’ll need some of what you’re smokin’ to buy into those numbers.
The problem is that the stat line will probably look like this:
Torres CF .250 9 HR 71 RBI
Murphy 2B .308 14 HR 81 RBI
Wright 3B .305 21 HR 97 RBI
Davis 1B .291 23 HR 102 RBI
Bay LF .257 12 HR 68 RBI
Duda RF .275 20 HR 80 RBI
Tejada SS .237 2 HR 50 RBI
Thole C .271 9 HR 63 RBI
Santana P 8 Wins 3.65 ERA
Dickey P 10 Wins 3.96 ERA
Niese P 12 Wins 3.48 ERA
Pelfrey P 8 Wins 5.25 ERA
Gee P 9 Wins 3.65 ERA
