nice to hear about this kids, specially darin gorski.. he’s a 6’4 guy who throws hard and can be a great asset to our crop of young arm in the minor league system..
Gorski doesn’t throw hard at all. Wheeler’s fastball is up to 10 MPH faster than Gorski’s.
This is the latest on him from Toby Hyde:
Post subject: Re: Darin Gorski Posted: Thu May 26, 2011 9:40 pm
Toby Hyde quote:
“A scout who’d seen him recently reported to me that he was throwing consistently harder than he did a year ago, sitting in the upper 80s and touching 90. He always had some feel for his off-speed pitches, but add some velocity, and it’s a lot easier to see him succeeding at the upper levels of the minors.”
PETEY, PARNELL THROWS 100MPH+ DOES THAT MAKE HIM AN AYUTOMASTIC SUCCESS? FORGET VELOCITY, WE’RE NOT CULTIVATING THROWERS WE CUILTIVATE PITCHERS PRIMARILY BEING IN THE 80-90MPH RANGE WITH IMPECCABLE CONTROL IS OUTSTANDING & PREFERABLE TO STRAIGHT TRIPLE DIGIT HITTABLE JUICE. REGARDLESS OF JHS VELOCITY IT’S RESULTS THAT MATTER MOST HAVE U NEVER HEARD THE NAMES RANDY JONES,GREG MADDOX,TOM GLAVINE(ATL) & GORSKI’S 2011 DEVELOPMENTAL STATS AGAINST PEERS OF
11-3 WITH 2.08 ERA IN 21GS FOR 139IP WITH A 1.00 WHIP & NEARLY 5:1 K:BB RATIO COMBINED WITH HIS LEFTHANDEDNESS CERTAINLY PORTRAYS MUCH MORE PROMISE THAN CONCERN
PETEY YOUR COMMENTERY STRIKES ME AS ONE JUST LOOKING MICROSCOPICALLY FOR NEGATIVES WHEN EXAMINING THE POTENTIAL CANDIDATES FOR OUR FUTURE STAFF; IT’S BEST TO LOOK AT BOTH THE INDIVIDUALS AS WELL AS THE WHOLE MAKEUP RARELY IS A DOMINANT MLB PITCHING STAFF MADE UP OF 5 POWER CLONES, AN OFFSIDED(LH) CONTROL/FINESSE ALTERNATIVE CAN BE A KEY INTEGRAL COMPONENT & SO FAR THERE IS LITTLE ROOM FOR COMPLAINT REGARDING GORSKI’S PROFESSIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS, IN MY 50+ YRS OF ACVTIVE NY BASEBALL(BKLYN & NYM) FANDOM ONE CONSIDTANT HAS ALWAYS REMAINED ON THE EVER CHANGING WEIGHTED STATISTICA FRONT. THE MOST IMPORTANT ATAT FOR A PITCHER AS WELL AS A TEAM IS SIMPLY # OF WINS NOT THE TOOLS USED TO ACQUIRE THEM!
VERTAINLY IF U ARE SO FIXATED ON VELOCITY IT CAN ARGUABLY BE PRESUMED THAT @ AGE 24, 6’4″ 210# WILL NOT BE GORSKI’S FULLY DEVELOPED FIGHTING FRAME AS HE LIKELY ADDS MUSCLE & POUNDS THE RADAR READINGS SHOULD TICK UP JUST AS A GOOD BASIC YOUNG HITTER’S POWER DEVELOPS WITH MATURITY FUILLS HIS FRAME ATHLETICLY.
PETEY, BUY SOME BULBS IT’S TOO DARK WHERE U R LIVING NOW, LOL!
GORSKI IS ONE I’VE BEEN EXCITED ABOUT ALL SEASON EVEN WITHOUT MUCH NY PRESS COVERAGE; BUT JUST LOOK AT THAT YEAR, WE’VE ALL BEEN HAMMERED WITH THE POTENTIALS OF HARVEY,FAMILIA,MEJIA & WHEELER; BUT GORSKI IS TYHE SOLE LHP AMONG THAT GROUPING, TYPICALLY LHP TAKE A SMIDGE LONGER THAN RHP TO FULLY DEVELOP, JUST IMAGINE LIKELY THEY’RE ALL READY @ PEAK DEVELOPMENT IN 2014 HARVEY,WHEELER,FAMILIA MAY GET SEPT CALLUPS AS EARLY AS ’12; BUT CERTAINLY IN ’13; HOWEVER ALL WILL BE “IN” CITI FOR ’14 JOINING YOUNG GUN VETS BY THAT TIME MIESE,PARNELL,STINSON(BULLPEN) & GEE. BY WHICH TIME SANTANA,DICKEY,PELFREY WILL ALL LIKELY BE ABSENT.
UNFORTUNATELY, I ENVISION AT LEAST 2 YRS OF STRUGGLING EFFECTIVENESS FROM SANTANA, MUCH AS PEDRO COST US DURING HIS “RECOVERIES”
Well, Gorski wasn’t setting the world on fire until this year. But, the change is due to him learning 2 new pitches and using them well. Not saying for sure he’s become legit, but that is a very good sign.
and wheeler and his 4.00+ ERA was?? yet he has all kind of praise when the sandy traded for him… amazing how pathetic you guys are
he had an ERA of 2.00 for PSL, and over 10Ks/9 (and less than 2 walks).
He was also rated in the top 55 of all MiL BB prospects by BBP for the last 2 years. He has serious stuff, and was a #6 draft pick.
THat is why people were excited to get him instead of nothing when Beltran left.
California Leagues about a full run higher per game than the Fl. State league but at least in his six St. Lucie starts he hasn’t been walking any where near the number of hitters he had been.
Metsblog reported the Mets fired their minor league pitching cooridinator today.
Are you really that stupid?
I’d say the Giants know a little about drafting pitching prospects, they did win a WS with all homegrown pitchers and getting their high ceiling prospect WAS a good trade for a guy that was going to walk at the end of a VERY BAD year.
You’d rather keep Beltran for nothing right?
Pathetic is right……..
I love Danny Muno that was well deserved way to go!
