Here are some interesting stats I gleaned from the Mets Notes today on Lucas Duda, who continues to rake and deliver key hits for the Mets.
Lucas Duda delievered the game-winning RBI last night in the seventh inning of last night’s win against the Marlins.
Duda has a very robust .517 batting average from the seventh inning on in August, recording 15 hits in 29 late-inning at-bats with 13 RBIs. With numbers like that, it’s no surprise why Terry Collins bumped Duda into the three spot in the batting order ahead of David Wright.
The 25-year old right fielder also had the most RBI and the second-highest batting average in August after the seventh inning (minimum 25 plate appearances) in MLB. Only Casey Kotchman (.533) had a higher batting average in August in such situations.
Duda has 10 RBI over his last 10 games and is batting .328 (43-131) since the All-Star break, ranking ninth in the NL. His .408 on-base percentage since the break is fifth in the NL and he has 27 RBI during that same span. His seven second-half home runs lead the team.
I’m starting to get real excited about our gentle giant, Lucas Duda. He may be the most soft-spoken player on the Mets, but he sure does carry a big stick.
But the numbers he is putting up lately? They are totally sick and off the charts… This is the wow factor…
I think it’s safe to assume that we are all in a agreement that Lucas Duda should get a full shot as the everyday right fielder in 2012… Right?
