Game Preview: Cubs vs Mets

Today is one of those days where the game doesn’t mean that much. Today is one of those days where we can take a step back from baseball and be thankful that we live in a world where we can have baseball, where can have the leisure time to enjoy a sport and the freedom to live our lives the way we do. The Mets and the Cubs will close out the series tonight as the Mets try to look beyond last night’s game and try to get back in the win column. Batista will be taking on Matt Garza of the Cubs tonight.

Batista is 4-2 on the season with a 3.92 ERA and is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA in his first 12 innings as a New York Met. He has logged in 4.1 innings against the Cubs this year, all of them scoreless The Cubs have the following numbers against Miguel Batista:

Soriano 3-27
Byrd 2-16
Ramirez 2-14, 2B
Pena 4-13, 2 2B

The Mets will get a look at Matt Garza tonight who is 8-10 on the year with a 3.52 ERA. In his last three starts he is 2-1 with a 2.79 ERA over 19.1 innings of work. Garza has actually never started the game against the Mets. These are the players who have numbers against Garza:

Bay 5-20, 2B, 2 3B

Turner 0-1
