New Mets Uniforms On Tap For 2012 and 2013!
I was very excited to read this post by Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, who writes that some changes are coming to the Mets uniforms for the 2012 season.
Adam spoke with Mets VP Dave Howard, who told him that it was too late for the Mets to incorporate the Blue “Los Mets” jerseys in time for the 2012 season, but that we will see them in 2013.

In a poll we took earlier this month on MMO, an overwhelming majority of those who voted loved the “Orange on Blue, No Drop-Shadow” designs and wanted to see them replace the ‘black” uniforms. Now we can look forward to seeing these eye-popping jerseys again in 2013.
“We did receive quite a bit of feedback…and fairly uniformly positive about the blue jersey,” Howard said. “It’s something we wanted to try…we had been hearing from fans — and observing on blogs and things like that — of people having a view that they’d like to see more of the blue and orange. We thought it would be a good opportunity to try out this particular design. And it was very well received.”
Hey, I wonder if Dave Howard read all the feedback on this post we made about those rockin’ blue uniforms!
Howard said we still may see this uniform on some special occasions…
“You have to finalize your plans by May, for the following season. So the blue jersey is not something at this point that we’re able to make part of our regular jerseys in 2012. But we do have the opportunity to wear it on certain occasions, limited times. And we will, more than likely, do that next year with a view toward perhaps introducing it as an official alternate jersey for 2013.”
As for the 2012 season, the Mets plan to go back to their roots and will look to incorporate some elements on the 1962 uniform in celebration of their 50th anniversary.
“We are planning on actually doing some modifications to our uniform palette for next year as part of our 50th anniversary celebration,” Howard said. “That’s something we’ll announce, I think, after the season. The plan is to unveil it in November.”
Those Original Mets uniforms have a wonderful classic look to them – and they also had a lot of magic in them!
I’m looking forward to the new changes.

will the uniforms have superpowers with them?
Blue Los Mets jerseys minus the Los?
Geez guys, if you are going to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the METS why don’t you just wear the 1962 uniform? Duh!
I cant wait to order me one of those new blue jerseys for Jose Reyes, I’m waiting to see if he signs. Don’t disappoint me Mr. Wilpon.
RIDICULOUS!!! In a town with the single best uniform in sports – the Yankees – the Mets continue to make a farce of themselves with CLOWN SUITS. Just have home white pinstripes, away grays and ONE HAT. Stop the insanity. They are not the LOS METS!!! This better be a joke. It is, right?
You are correct but miss the point here. This is a marketing ploy to sell uniform jerseys, hats, jackets, etc. The more variations you can come up with, the more money the team will make. I went to an ebay cap site and must of found at least 30 different officially licensed MET caps. If your paying a 2.1 million dollar signing bonus to just one signing (Nimmo) you have to come up with all sorts of gimmicks to sell stuff and the uniform is as “gimmicky” as it gets.
and there must be 60 different licensed yankee hats. And some are tremendously ugly.
um the yankees dont have the best uniforms buddy..more that they are iconic and most recognized symbol…and because they just win….and most fans are frontrunners..oh scratch that,,,40 percent are.tigers are much better.
Ironically the Mets sold the blue jersey on their web site over 4-5 years ago minus the “Los” on them. I purchased one and am shocked that whenever I wear it, people say they never seen one before and wished the Mets would wear them. I guess they didn’t sell well, but am happy as hell to hear that we are close to dumping the black and rocking this look. The black look is so 1990′s. It was such a fad that even the Royals had them, but were smart enough to dump them after a few seasons. The Mets (David Howard) didn’t get the memo.
Also, I’ve wanted to send a picture of it to Metsmerized, but can’t seem to do so. Anyone know of a way to e-mail them? I only find a comment link and nothing else or am I missing something?

you can also use our contact form: http://metsmerizedonline.com/contact-us
(but in this case it wouldnt help because it wont let you attach anything.)
thanks!
Thank you!
You do realize that the only reason to change the jersey is so they can soak you for more money trying to keep up to date with them? LOL
Maybe I’m missing something, but why is everyone hating on the black jerseys? I actually prefer the Black uniform over the rest. But maybe that’s just me. The Los Mets colors aren’t too bad either, but I really hope they don’t ditch the black.

Personally I don’t dislike the Black jerseys but they are NOT the Met colors AFAIC…
People LOVED the MEAN AND TOUGH black look when they introduced it….
Now I think people just identify it with the 2009 to now seasons and want a change for the sake of change…
Not because they don’t really like the black jerseys.
