AA Eastern League: Binghamton 4/10/0, Trenton 7/10/0

The combination of Dylan Owen, Eric Niesen and Manuel Alvarez…no es bueno, at least tonight. They took a good outing from Robert Carson and NUKED it by allowing 7 runs in the bottom of the 7th, with Niesen taking the loss. Carson went 5.2 innings, allowing no runs on 4 hits and 4 walks, but he took a ND thanks to the bullpen implosion.

The Met offense had 10 hits and a 6/12 BB/K ratio, but where an abysmal 1 for 12 (.083) with RISP and left 12 on base. Raul Reyes and Josh Satin had multi hit games, while Jose Coronado (0 for 5, .238), and Luke Montz (0 for 2, 2 RBI, 2 BBs, K, .209) took 0-fers.

Jeurys Familia had one of his best outings of the season with 6.2 shutout innings tonight, he scattered 4 hits and 2 walks while striking out 9 for his 3rd win. Nick Carr got crushed for 4 runs on 5 hits in 1.2 innings, but Rhiner Cruz stranded the tying runs on base to preserve the win and pick up his 4th save.

The Met offense had 11 hits and a a 4/14 BB/K ratio, while going 4 for 15 (.267) with RISP and leaving 9 on base. Wilmer Flores and Jean Luc Blaquiere had multi hit games, every Met had at least one hit.

Cory Vaughn tied it with a 2 run homer in the bottom of the 9th, in the process tying Jason Jacobs franchise record for homers with 12. With a month to go in the season, there’s a VERY good chance he breaks that mark. Darrell Ceciliani and Joe Bonfe had multi hit games, Bonfe hit a walkoff 11th inning homer. Ceciliani had 3 hits, all for XBH, 2 doubles and a triple. Vaughn had the homer and a walk. Brian Harrison had a 2 run single and walk, Blake Forstyhe took the golden sombrero.

R Appalachian League: Kingsport 10/17/6, Danville 9/12/0 in 13 innings

Danville was ahead 1-0 after 6 innings, and then he lines began resembling zip codes. Kingsport fell behind 5-0 in the top of the 7th, then tied it in the bottom half and went ahead with 3 in the next inning, only to see Danville tie it with 3 in the top of the 9th. The teams traded runs in the 10th, before ZeErika McQueen’s walkoff HR won it in the 13th. Five Mets had multi hit games, no Met took an 0-fer.
