A South Atlantic League: Savannah 3/10/3, Kannapolis 2/7/3 in 13 innings.

The Gnats played another long game last night/into today (with a rain delay and suspension), and in the end, Michael Powers worked 2.1 innings (yesterday) for the win (today), as the Gnats didn’t have to take the field (today). Jefry Marte had the walkoff hit when play resumed in the bottom of the 13th, giving the Gnats the win. Jim Fuller started and was good, giving up just a run on 2 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings, but he took a ND after Lance Hoge blew the save, giving up an UER (Cesar Puello error) to blow Fuller’s win.

The Gnats had 10 hits and 3 walks in 13 innings, while going 3 for 11 (.273) with RISP, leaving 7 on base, and striking out 9 times. Alonzo Harris and Marte had multi hit games, while Wilmer and Rafael Fernandez took 0-fers.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis had 3 hits and was on base 4 times, leading the Mets to a 12 hit, 5 walk outburst as they crushed Richmond 10-0 today. Nieuwenhuis, Luis Hernandez and Eric Campbell had multi hit games, while Brahiam Maldonado took the only 0-fer. The Mets were 6 for 14 (.429) with RISP, left 7 on, and struck out just 6 times. Eddie Kunz had an absolutely magnificant start today, giving up just 4 hits and 2 walks in 7.2 innings for his 4th win.

The Mets got an UER run in the 5th inning, scored by Richard Lucas. Overall, the Mets had 8 hits, struck out 5 times, and were hitless in 6 ABs with RISP, while leaving 4 on base. Josh Satin and Raul Reyes had multi hit games, while Wilfredo Tovar, Stefan Welch, and Jean Luc Blaquiere (0 for 3, .194) took 0-fers.
