David Lennon, the New York Mets beat writer for Newsday on his twitter account has some news on Carlos Beltran and Jose Reyes and it’s not good, not at all. On Reyes, Lennon says:
“Reyes back in NYC. Got another cortisone shot. Shut down again for a few days. Not good.”
On Beltran the news is not that encouraging either as Lennon says:
Beltran only riding bike. No baseball activity. Will be re-evaluated at AS break. Probably won’t be back until late July – at earliest.
Doesn’t sound like these guys are going to be back right after the All-Star game as promised, I’m shocked, just shocked at that (please note the sarcasm).

Kevin Burkhardt is also saying on Twitter that Carlos Delgado is swinging off a tee but won’t be back until mid-August. Between the players you mention in your post and Delgado’s news, it looks like Omar has to make a move soon or else the season will be completely lost.
Ed, I think we all know Omar is not going to be making any moves, goodbye 2009.
oh god. i blame the WBC for all this. i dont think baseball should get rid of it, i just think they have to put it right after the season ends, like 2 weeks after the World Series ends.
If you think people don’t care about the WBC now just wait until the day they play it after the season. By November everyone is sick of baseball and the players have just started there vacation. Putting it in November isn’t the solution, getting rid of it is the solution.
Angry and frustrated. Fuck You Mets Management.
What ticks me off the most is that I don’t think they have a clue what is wrong with Jose’. Will he be back at all this year? We have better insight into Beltran’s condition because he went the 2nd opinion route on his own initiative (and most likely his own dime too). It will be totally shocking if Delgado is the first one back of those 3.
What is it that is exactly wrong with Jose Reyes? Bad contract-itis?
Looking forward to a better offseason after this season ends. Time to look torwards 2010.
Hopefully the Mets management will be smart and start unloading some veterans for some good prospects before the trade deadline.
How about starting with unloading Mets management first. Including Tony Bernazard and whoever else isn’t doing their job in the minors
How about selling the team first and cutting the cord to the Coupons?
That would be a dream come true!! Mark Cuban didn’t get the Cubs, maybe he could go after the Mets!!!
lmao…Imagine Cuban in the dougout running on the field to argue a bad call.
[...] the injury news out of Met camp is not good. Looks like Reyes and Beltran are a long way away still. Also, Flushing University reports that Johan has received a cortisone [...]
so in other words Delgado, Beltran and Reyes are more or less out for the season. Our season ended about a week ago. Seems like the annual september heartbreak came a few months early this year.
