Oliver Perez Walks 5, Ends Bisons Win Streak
If you were hoping to get an improved and rejuvenated Oliver Perez back in the starting rotation anytime soon, forget about it. Perez is now losing games for Buffalo these days, and in his first start with them he looked like the same old Ollie. The Buffalo News reports, Perez, in his first game action since May 2 because of a right patellar tendinitis, was his usual combination of erratic and impressive in the Bisons’ [...]

Mets Win 6-1 On A Hernandez Complete Game Victory
The Mets got help from technology…again, as they took game one against the Nationals at home. The Mets look to keep on a winning streak as Livan Hernandez looks to get his fourth win as he is 3-1 with a 4.93 ERA. The Mets will go up against the Nationals’ rookie pitcher Craig Stammen who is 0-0 with a 5.68 ERA. Hernandez lost his first game against the Nationals in 2006, but since then he’s posted a 3.34 ERA while [...]

Why Are The Mets So Bad At Handling Injuries?
This team when it comes to handling injuries is just horrible. We saw it last year with Ryan Church’s concussion in Atlanta. The Mets gave him a game off, flew him to Colorado and had him playing while suffering a concussion. It was a major setback to the season as Church was not the same player when he came back after finally being put on the disabled list. This year in Spring Training there were [...]

Breaking News – Mets Callup Fernando Martinez
According to WFAN, Ryan Church and Jose Reyes have been put on the 15-day DL, Omar Minaua told reporters today. Fernando Martinez has been promoted, and is on his way to Citi Field. The Mets also traded cash to the Indians for minor-league SS Wilson Valdez, who will be promoted immediately to the 25-man roster. Fernando Martinez will make his Major League debut in rightfield for the Mets tonight. He will be the everyday rightfielder [...]

5/26 Minor League Report
Buffalo 1, Lehigh Valley 2 Oliver Perez. That’s about all you need to know tonight. Ollie was Ollie, walking 5 in 4.1 innings, including one with the bases loaded and one to the opposing pitcher. He threw just 48 of 88 pitches for strikes and took the loss, despite giving up just a run on 3 hits. The Bisons severely depleted offense managed just 7 hits and a run, while going 0 for 7 with [...]

Metsmerized Today – Tuesday Trivia Question Edition
Today’s Links Citi Field is looking a lot like a MASH unit these days, as the nagging injuries and those requiring a stint on the DL keep mounting. To begin, Jose Reyes attempted to do some jogging before the game but announced he was not close to returning. The Mets now delay any decision for now, as they consider whether they should place him on the DL on Friday. Why wait? Is there any benefit to rushing him back? Put [...]

Will Mets Go After Jake Peavy?
I just read an article by Dayn Perry of Fox Sports who lists a few baseball trades that he says need to happen right now. This one got my attention… Jake Peavy to the Mets The Padres, despite their ongoing hot steak, have precious little chance of making the postseason (CoolStandings.com gives them less than a 10% chance of making it). As well, they’ve been actively shopping Peavy for months. The Mets, meanwhile, badly need help [...]

Our Starters Have Been Pitching Well
As April came to a close, I was very alarmed at the state of our starting pitching. Aside from Johan Santana, everyone had an ERA over 5.00 and questions lingered about the makeup of the rotation. John Maine had an ERA of 5.40, Mike Pelfrey was at 6.32, Livan Hernandez was at risk of losing his job with a 6.75 ERA, and Oliver Perez was yanked from the rotation with a 9.97 ERA. There were concerns about [...]
