Carlos Beltran is listed as day-to-day and is due back from a bone bruise on his right knee tonight against the Marlins. On Wednesday, Beltran said he was feeling 100% better and that he would be ready to play on Friday. Manuel said Beltran will start in center field.

Alex Cora is on the 15 day DL and is due back from a torn ligament in his right thumb on Tuesday. Cora began a three game rehab in AAA Buffalo on Thursday, which will include a game apiece at second base, DH and shortstop. It looks like he will avoid surgery and that everything has gone as well as can be expected.

Carlos Delgado is on the 15 day DL, after undergoing surgery for a right hip impingement, bone spur and torn labrum. The Mets originally reported that Delgado would miss up to ten weeks, but Delgado didn’t sound so sure on Thursday.

“I can’t guarantee nothing,” Delgado said at a fundraiser at Richards clothing store in Greenwich, Conn., to benefit the Mets Foundation. “The most important thing is get better, get healthy so you can perform effectively. I think it’s going to happen some time this year, but I can’t guarantee nothing. I can’t do that.”

Oliver Perez on on the 15 day DL and is due back soon from his right knee patellar tendinitis. Perez started in AAA Buffalo on Tuesday and walked five batters in 4.1 innings. He is expected to stay in Buffalo until his knee is pain free.

Jose Reyes is on the 15 day DL and is due back from his calf tendinitis in early June. He’s already had two MRI’s that have indicated no structural damage, so he believes it’s only a matter of time before the knee improves significantly.

“I have to be careful because everybody knows my legs are the key to my game. I have to be healthy here if I want to be successful at this level.”

Gary Sheffield said he tweaked his right hamstring running home on Murphy’s video-reviewed home run Wednesday.  Sheffield initially thought the ball was in play. He received treatment after the game and Thursday night, but said he’ll be in the lineup tonight. “It didn’t have to happen,” Sheffield said. “Thank God it’s nothing serious.”

Brian Schneider is on the 15 day DL , who is catching games in extended Spring Training, is on the 15 day DL and is due back soon from a strained back and sore calf.

Ryan Church is on the 15 day DL  Disabled List on May 26 and is due back from his strained right hamstring in Mid-June. The rightfielder missed 72 games last season because of two stints on the disabled list with post-concussion syndrome. Although he’s relieved that this injury is not as significant, or as difficult to treat, the feeling of helplessness on the DL is never easy to deal with on a daily basis.

“You feel like you’re an outcast,” Church said. “You can only do so much. I know you still have to be out there, cheering guys on. But it hurts inside that you can’t go out and play. That’s what we’re here to do. And just having something like this, prohibiting you from doing that, it’s like sticking a dagger in and twisting it.”
