It’s Been Quite A Ride So Far…

What a crazy day… If you are an avid Mets fan, and are addicted to reading blogs about the Mets, today was like a taste of heaven for you. Between this site, and about two dozen more Mets sites, there were over 300 different blogs posted today! And nothing happened! About 10% of those blogs were posted by MetsBlog alone, and they may have just set a new world record of thier own over there. Anyway, I [...]

Dan Graziano of the Star-Ledger is reporting that the Mets and Red Sox are currently negotiating a trade that will send catcher Brian Schneider to Boston. He writes, A person familiar with the discussions, who declined to be identified because he’s not authorized to speak publicly about them, confirmed that the Red Sox and the Mets were discussing a deal that would send catcher Brian Schneider to Boston. I’m Thinking Sabathia Will Punk The Yanks

All of you know how much I hate the Yankees… They may think they are the toast of the town, but every now and then they get dumped on just like all the rest of us. When the Yankees came out of the gates, as soon as the free agent period started, and made that over the top offer to Sabathia, sure I was pissed off. Why wouldn’t I be? The team I love declared themselves out [...]

Drinks, Steaks, and Francisco Rodriguez

There must be nothing better than an ice cold beer in a frosty mug, and a perfectly grilled medium rare steak, to satisfy your appetite while you are negotiating a huge, multi-million dollar contract. That’s exactly what Omar Minaya and his entourage did during the waning hours of Sunday night with their special guest, free agent closer Francisco Rodriguez. No word on if K-Rod ordered a New York strip, but I wouldn’t bet against it. General manager Omar Minaya, his assistant John [...]

Winter Meetings News: Add B.J. Ryan To Available Closers

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, is reporting that the Blue Jays would have no hesitation in dealing closer B.J. Ryan if they are overwhelmed by an offer. The key word being, “overwhelmed”. Sorry, no thanks. With the glut of closers available in this year’s market, there is no reason for the Mets to overpay for a closer. Cafardo, also mentions that the Reds are in the market for a lefty reliever since they lost Jeremy Affeldt. [...]

Mets Want Orlando Hudson To Replace Luis Castillo

As reported by Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, The Mets are desperate to move second baseman Luis Castillo to create a spot for free agent Orlando Hudson. The only way to do it would be to exchange Castillo’s contract for another of similar value, but lots of luck. When the Mets asked the Rangers about a Castillo-for-Vicente Padilla — a swap that would require the Rangers to move Ian Kinsler to left field — they [...]

Kong: A Blast From The Past

Wow… I just finished reading an amazing article about a former New York Met, that I really knew very little about. It was by Joe Posnanski at SI.com, who gave me a whole new perspective on Dave Kingman. I’m sure many of you have heard about the exploits of Dave Kingman at one time or another. In fact, if you listened to most Mets games on the radio like I used to, you would have [...]

Return from Hibernation: Road to Recovery

With the Winter Meetings on the horizon and just ahead, I return from a three month hiatus from posting here on Metsmerized.  I have not been short of words to say or topics to discuss, but the emotional letdown of yet another September meltdown was too much to overcome until now. My outlook for this offseason is optimistic but yet frighteningly realistic at the same time. I do believe the Mets number one priority needs to be adding [...]
