Most Mets Fans Are Bred To Believe
Following a desperation victory this afternoon at Shea, where exactly do our beloved Metsies rest in your heart? Sure, in realistic terms they have grasp of the NL East lead, by a thread, but nonetheless, they sit atop the standings. With the Braves and Phillies knocking at the door, does worry fill you from within? Are you confident heading into the final six weeks of this 2007 campaign? These are all curious questions I’ve been [...]

This Mets Lineup Scares Nobody, Except Some Of Us Mets Fans
Mike Vaccaro of the NY Post asks the tough questions this morning. Questions that only the Mets can answer. Every few weeks, you keep waiting for the shock to the system that will finally apply the kick-start necessary for the Mets to achieve the manifest destiny in the NL East everyone seems to expect of them. The first three series losses to the Braves didn’t do it. The 4-14 death march through June didn’t do [...]

Just Because Willie Says Every Game Is A Big Game, It Doesn’t Make It So
Did anyone happen to catch Willie Randolph’s interview last night on SNY’s Geico Post Game?? The reporters who were asking the questions really got his temperature boiling especially on one particular question that was asked… Is your team approaching this as a big series, because it seems like the Braves are, and you’re not? What followed next was a clearly infuriated Randolph trying to diffuse a question that clearly struck at the heart of his [...]

Mets Must Be Brave and Beat Braves!
It is imperative that the Mets not just take this series, but sweep it. Taking two out of three games only gains one game in the standings, while sweeping gains three. When the Mets last left Atlanta, they were only one and a half games ahead of the Braves. Since then, they have played just three games over .500, and yet they gained three games in the standings. Willie has to put his best lineup [...]

From The Orange Seats – The Future is Bright… Real Bright
This will be my last blog for August, both ‘Orange Seats and the Minor League Report. I’m taking a two-week vacation with my family. So, yeah. I’ll be back the 26th. On with the blog! Sitting in front of a computer while watching some SNY made me think, what does the future hold for us? Well, I know we have the best left-infield in the NL East, if not the MLB, but what about the [...]

Monday Mets Minutes
FYI… I figured I would make my Monday posts about my observations over the past week…so here goes… First off, congratulations to Tom Glavine for winning number 300!! I thought it was going to be another long stretch before we saw it, like waiting for the Mets to clinch last year! Well, it wasn’t saved for Shea but I‘m sure the Mets have some big video tribute/presentation in the works! Is it just me or [...]

Here Come The Braves: Will The Mets Be Ready This Time?
After allowing the dust to settle and the smoke to clear on the hoopla that was Tom Glavine’s 300th career victory, the Mets now have a far more significant matter at hand. With the milestone put in the rear view mirror, the focus is squarely set on the Atlanta Braves. They head to Flushing this week for perhaps the teams most important battle of the season. With eight grueling weeks remaining, the race for the [...]

Congratulations Tom Glavine!
After blowing Tom Glavine’s first attempt to win game 300, the Mets bats came alive and the bullpen was able to hang on to beat the Cubs 8-3 and secure the historic win for Glavine. Once again Tom’s family was on hand to witness the big win in a game that was fraught with plenty of emotion for the crafty left-hander. Glavine even drove in the first run of the game in the third inning [...]

Pedro Martinez Leaves The Field To A Thunderous Ovation…
Mets.com tells us that Pedro Martinez showed up at Tradition Field believing he would throw about 45 pitches in a simulated game. He ended up throwing 67 and later declared that he has more knowledge now that all the work he’s done in overcoming rotator cuff surgery has been worth it. "I feel better about my stamina and my endurance on the mound," he said. "And toward the end, I felt better than at the [...]
