David Wright notched the first two hits of his rehab assignment with Advanced-A St. Lucie on Sunday afternoon.

Wright, 35, is attempting to return from multiple major surgeries (neck, back, shoulder), all stemming from a 2015 spinal stenosis diagnosis.

Wright was hitless in his first fifteen at-bats with St. Lucie before his first-inning, line drive single. He scored on a bases-loaded walk later in the frame.

After popping out in his second at-bat, Wright added another base hit, this time to left field. He played five innings at third base.

Jay Bruce, rehabbing a right hip strain, went 2-for-5 with two singles. The 31-year-old entered the day hitting .154/.214/.154 in 14 plate appearances with St. Lucie.

Bruce is expected back by the end of the month, though Wright’s timetable is yet to be determined.
