Travis, d'Arnaud

The Mets announced that catcher Travis d’Arnaud will be in a splint for three weeks after being diagnosed with a metacarpal fracture of the little finger on his right hand.

The plan is that after three weeks, and assuming the injury is still not sore or tender, d’Arnaud will be evaluated and allowed to resume baseball activities as long as he is no longer in pain.

D’Arnaud was slashing .315/.356.557 with a double, triple, two home runs  and 10 RBIs in 45 plate appearances this season.

Get well, Travis…

The hits keep on coming. Travis d’Arnaud has suffered a broken right hand and could miss 6-8 weeks the team announced this afternoon.

D’Arnaud was hit in the hand by a pitch from Miami Marlins reliever A.J. Ramos in the seventh inning.

He was quickly removed from the game after the trainer and Terry Collins examined him as he grimaced in pain and kept staring out to the mound.

Adam Rubin tweeted that the Mets have often said in past that Kevin Plawecki would be promoted if d’Arnaud missed any significant time.

The Mets could also call up lefthanded catcher Johnny Monell who had a solid spring in big league camp. He could become part of a regular platoon with Anthony Recker.

I’m sorry, but this sucks… D’Arnaud was off to a great start offensively and defensively and was a big part of the current Mets winning streak.
