First baseman Dominic Smith has been named MLB Pipeline’s Prospect of the Year for the New York Mets organization and Corey Oswalt is their Pitcher of the Year.

Smith, 22, also received the 2017 Sterling Minor League Organizational Player of the Year last month. The left-handed hitting first baseman struggled in his first taste of the majors hitting only .198/.262/.395 with six doubles, nine home runs and 26 RBI in 49 games.

The struggles came after performing very well in Triple-A Las Vegas with a .330/.386/.519 slash line with a career high 34 doubles, 16 home runs and 76 RBI.

Oswalt, 24, was the Mets recipient for the Sterling Award for Pitcher of the Year and also the Eastern League Pitcher of the Year.

The right-hander went 12-5 with a league best 2.28 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 8.0 K/9 in 134.1 innings for the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies.

Oswalt is our No. 12 ranked prospect at MMO/MMN.
