Major League Baseball commissioner Bud Selig has received a two-year contract extension through the 2014 to remain in his current role.

Selig’s extension had been rumored for months and was approved in a 29-1 vote Thursday during owners’ meetings in Scottsdale, Ariz. He will be 80 when the new deal expires.

“I am very humbled by the request to stay on, and I look forward to building on the great momentum our game has seen in recent years,” Selig said in a statement.
