Robinson Cano has been an extremely talented asset for every team he has been on, and looks to do the same for the Mets.

“I always like to be prepared. always open to any question, any advice. I hope that I can help them and be the leader for the team.”

When asked about his effect on the younger players, he added that he wants to serve as a positive example for them to learn from. Cano has accepted his role in the clubhouse and looks to answer any and all questions the younger players have.

“I get questions from a few of the players, and being the veteran and knowing what I know, the knowledge that I have for the game, knowing that I have to do the right thing. I have to be out there and be ready. I don’t want to say they rely on me, but I know that they are watching”. Robinson Cano has accepted his role in the clubhouse and looks to answer any and all questions the younger players have.

Cano has taken notice to all of the players speaking highly of him during their recent in-game interviews with Steve Gelbs of SNY. The most recent being Brandon Nimmo during one of the Mets last spring training games.

While Nimmo was speaking to Gelbs about the impact Cano has had on the team thus far, SNY panned out from Nimmo and Gelbs to reveal Robinson Cano listening in and nodding in approval at the praises he’s indirectly receiving from his teammate.

From interviews to social media, you can find Cano eager to show off his love for being a met. On Thursday after the Mets’ opening day win, Cano took to twitter and posted a cartoon video of him hitting his first Mets home run captioning the tweet “Opening Day [bomb emoji, smoke emoji].”

Along with this adorable video, fans got a motivational Opening Day tweet from Cano reading “One of the best days of the year. Happy Opening Day to all the players, teams, and fans out there. Especially to the @ for embracing me from Day One and to all my teammates. Wishing everyone a successful and healthy season. Let’s Go Mets[praying hands emoji] ”

Fans recognize the excitement Cano has brought to this team and are equally as excited to watch him play, especially after his first inning home run. His social media is tattooed with him in his new teams’ colors.

It can be seen from day one that he was signed he was ecstatic to be playing in New York mentioning in a tweet, “NY is the baseball capital of the world & playing in front of NY fans is a feeling unlike any other”. Cano even took it upon himself to join the Mets in spreading Christmas cheer as an elf at their annual Christmas party.
