Mickey Callaway told the press after Friday night’s loss to the Kansas City Royals that Robert Gsellman is dealing with triceps soreness.
Gsellman, 26, has not pitched since August 11, in which he allowed two runs and two hits in 1/3 of an inning against the Washington Nationals.
On the year, the right-handed reliever has a 4.66 ERA, 4.13 FIP, and 1.336 WHIP with 8.5 K/9 as compared to 3.3 BB/9.
The Mets have been using an eight-man bullpen since August 2 when they recalled Chris Mazza from Triple-A Syracuse. They then replaced Mazza with Drew Gagnon on August 13 and later swapped out Gagnon with Paul Sewald on Friday.
