The Texas Rangers and Japanese RHP Yu Darvish have agreed to a six-year contract just before today’s 5:00 pm  ET deadline, according to multiple reports.

The two sides agreed on a multi-year contract that will pay him in the neighborhood of $10 million per season for six seasons.

GM Jon Daniels and Darvish’s agents worked late into the night Tuesday and resumed negotiations today as the deadline approached. Team president Nolan Ryan joined the negotiations this morning to help nail down a deal.

Darvish, 25, went 18-6 with a 1.44 ERA and a league-leading 276 strikeouts in 232 innings last season.

Now we’ll all get to see if he’s really as phenomenal as everyone says he is.
