According to Anthony Dicomo of MLB.com, it appears overwhelmingly likely that the team will hire a new General Manager from outside the organization.
Dicomo has noted that the Mets are still in the early stages of the process and don’t plan to ask teams for permission to interview candidates for some time.
Previous reports have rumored former Boston Red Sox GM Ben Cherington and Arizona Diamondbacks executive Jared Porter as two of the top candidates to take over for Sandy Alderson.
