New York Mets legend Ed Kranepool made a return to Citi Field to throw out the first pitch on Monday night in an effort to raise awareness for his search for a kidney donor match.

Before the game, Kranepool thanked the Mets for inviting him to participate and be at the stadium. “I’m glad to be here, I’m glad to be involved a little bit, if there’s anything I can do to help the Wilpons along the way it’s my pleasure.”

Despite a reported fallout a couple of years ago, Kranepool told reporters the organization has always been good to him. “Things in the past, are in the past, and let’s move forward,” Kranepool said.

As far as his health, Kranepool told Gary and Ron he is feeling good. “I’m feeling pretty good, I’m getting around and feeling better than I’m supposed to feel. Though I’m not ready to play golf this year!” Kranepool noted.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Ed as he continues his search for a donor and a new kidney. Anyone who can help track down a kidney for Kranepool can reach out at:
