Four Wild Card games were played on Thursday with three of them ending the series. The Braves, Dodgers, and A’s all moved on to the next round with wins. The game between the Marlins and Cubs was postponed due to inclement weather.

Marlins vs Cubs, 2:08 p.m. ET, Game 2 (Marlins Up 1-0) – ABC
RHP Sixto Sanchez vs RHP Yu Darvish

Cubs game 1 starter Kyle Hendricks was in cruise control heading into the seventh inning with a 1-0 lead before Corey Dickerson hit his 106th pitch of the game for a three-run homer. The Cubs had just four hits in the game, two of them coming from Ian Happ.

The 22-year-old Sanchez impressed with a 3.46 ERA in his first seven big league starts this season. Darvish – likely top 3 Cy Young finisher – had a 2.01 ERA and 0.96 WHIP in 76 innings for the Cubs.

Cardinals vs Padres, 7:08 p.m. ET, Game 3 (Series Tied at 1-1) – ESPN
RHP Jack Flaherty vs TBD

After losing game 1 by a 7-4 score, the Padres bats broke out with a 11-9 victory in game 2. Fernando Tatis Jr. and Wil Myers each homered twice in the win. Manny Machado also homered and Tommy Pham had four hits.

Flaherty – coming off a fourth place Cy Young finish in 2019 – disappointed with a 4.91 ERA in nine 2020 starts for the Cardinals.
