The New York Mets will play game 162 of the season today and send Noah Syndergaard to the mound to face Nick Pivetta of the Philadelphia Phillies. The game starts at 3:05 p.m. and airs on SNY.
Last night, the Mets beat the Phillies 7-4 in extra innings to record their 70th victory of the season. Seth Lugo started the game for the Mets and allowed two runs in his four innings of work. Paul Sewald allowed the other two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
On the offensive side, the Mets did not score until a RBI ground rule double in the fourth inning by Amed Rosario. The Mets later took the lead in the fifth on a Brandon Nimmo two-run triple. They scored again in the seventh on a RBI double by Asdrubal Cabrera.
Cabrera was a key cog for the Mets last night as he recorded four hits, including a tiebreaking three-run homer in the top of the tenth inning to lead the Mets to victory.
The offense as a whole recorded 11 hits and some other performances of note were that of Kevin Plawecki, who recorded two hits to add to his three walks and Nori Aoki who also walked three times in which he scored that many runs as well.
