Good morning, Mets fans!

Following months of anticipation, the New York Mets will finally call up Ronny Mauricio, to the big league ball club and make his debut in the major leagues this weekend. According to the initial report by Daniel Álvarez-Montes from El Extrabase and subsequently corroborated by Joel Sherman of The New York Post, the Mets are planning to promote Mauricio, their eighth-ranked prospect, as the rosters expand to 28. And, as Mike Mayer of MMO reported, Brett Baty will also be rejoining the Mets. That means Baty, Mauricio, Francisco Álvarez and Mark Vientos are all on the big league club at the same time for the first time.

Pete and Haley Alonso have introduced the “Love of the Game” initiative, which includes grants from the Alonso Foundation for various local organizations, as well as the provision of 50 tickets and complimentary food for an upcoming Mets game to these beneficiaries.

According to the transactions log on MLB.com, the Cleveland Guardians have released pitcher Noah Syndergaard. The right-hander signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers in the offseason and was dealt to Cleveland in exchange for former Mets teammate Amed Rosario.

After dismissing Rick Hahn and Kenny Williams from their front office, the Chicago White Sox have appointed Chris Getz as their senior vice president and general manager. Getz, a former White Sox draft pick in 2005, played the better part of seven seasons with the White Sox, Kansas City Royals and Toronto Blue Jays. Before taking on the role of general manager, Getz was the assistant general manager under former GM Hahn.

According to sources cited by Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon of The Athletic, the Brewers have inked a minor league deal with free agent third baseman Josh Donaldson. Under the terms of the agreement, the team will be responsible for paying Donaldson a prorated portion of the league minimum salary. Donaldson’s signing comes two days after being released by the New York Yankees.

The waiver wire saw some action in the state of Ohio, as reported by Jeff Passan of ESPN. The Cincinnati Reds added outfielder Harrison Bader to their roster after claiming him off waivers from the New York Yankees. Meanwhile, Cleveland made claims on a trio of players from the LA Angels: right-handed starter Lucas Giolito, left-handed reliever Matt Moore, and right-handed reliever Reynaldo Lopez. Not to be outdone, Cincinnati also secured outfielder Hunter Renfroe from the Angels through the waiver process as well.

1975: On this date in 1975, Tom Seaver etched his name into the annals of baseball history. In a commanding performance, the legendary pitcher struck out 10 Pittsburgh Pirates and secured a resounding 3-0 victory. This remarkable achievement made Seaver the first pitcher in MLB history to accomplish the remarkable feat of tallying at least 200 strikeouts in eight consecutive seasons. Before Seaver’s historic accomplishment, this record was solely held by Walter Johnson, who achieved seven consecutive seasons with 200+ strikeouts from 1910 to 1916.
