Good morning, Mets fans!
The Mets missed an opportunity to sweep the Rockies, losing 6-2 after a controversial go-ahead grand slam hit by Jake McCarthy off Craig Kimbrel in the eighth inning. Christian Scott performed well on the mound, allowing just one run and recording six strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings. However, the Mets’ offense fell silent after scoring twice in the second inning. After dealing with snowy mountains in Colorado, the Mets will continue their road trip with a series in the scoring-hot Arizona desert. Coming off two straight series wins, New York will try to keep it going against the Diamondbacks with Game 1 set for 9:40 p.m. ET Friday. Nolan McLean (1-2, 2.97 ERA) takes the hill against Ryne Nelson (1-3, 6.61 ERA).
