Good morning, Mets fans!

The Mets signed 20 International Free Agents after the signing period opened Monday. Three of these prospects were ranked in the top 50 international prospects by MLB Pipeline – catcher Yovanny Rodriguez, outfielder Edward Lantigua, and shortstop Yensi Rivas. The Mets also signed outfielder Vladi Miguel Guerrero, son of Hall of Famer Vladimir Guerrero.

The Giants are hiring Dusty Baker as a special assistant to president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi and team president Larry Baer. Baker retired from his post as the manager of the Astros following their defeat at the hands of the Rangers in the ALCS. Baker also managed the Giants from 1993-2002.

The White Sox have signed righty Joe Barlow to a minor league contract, according to MLB.com‘s transaction tracker. Barlow appeared in just 13 games in 2023, posting a 4.66 ERA for the Rangers after serving as the team’s closer in 2021 and 2022.

1986: The Mets send former first-round pick Billy Beane along with Bill Latham and Joe Klink to the Twins in exchange for outfielder Pat Crosby and second baseman Tim Teufel. The 25-year-old Teufel has a .751 OPS in his career over parts of three seasons for Minnesota.

2020: The Mets part ways with manager Carlos Beltrán. Hired in November, Beltrán was the only player named in the report about the Astros’ sign-stealing scandal.
