Good morning, Mets fans! Francisco Lindor is in a class by himself.

David Stearns will address the media Monday at a 2 p.m. ET news conference.

New York finishes with the sixth-worst record in MLB, which gives the Mets the fifth-best odds (8.68%, per Tankathon) to land the top pick in the 2027 draft. (The Giants ended with a worse record, but are ineligible for a top pick.)

The Mets concluded a frustrating season with a 6-4 loss to the Nationals Sunday, finishing at 74-88 for their lowest win total in a season (excluding Covid-interrupted 2020) since 2017. It was also New York’s first last-place finish since Art Howe guided the 2003 team to a 66-95 mark.

Lindor homered for No. 300 of his career and became the first shortstop in MLB history to reach that milestone along with 200 stolen bases. He is also the second switch-hitter in the 300-200 club, joining Carlos Beltran. Johnluke Chaparro’s game recap is here.

Manager Andy Green said after the game that the players are “hungry to change the narrative” going into next year. Lindor said the clubhouse is in “great shape” and he doesn’t expect fans to hear anything negative about it in the offseason.

Juan Soto said his season was “a tough one.”

“A lot of ups and downs,” Soto said. “I want to call it disappointing, embarrassing. I got to prepare myself better. I got to be better. I gotta be for the team, try to be out there for 162 and contribute as much as I can.” Soto played in 111 games, the fewest for his career (again, excluding 2020).

Asked why fans should be confident the Mets can rebound next year, Soto said: “Carson Benge.”
