It is day three without Mets baseball due to COVID-19 infecting two members of the New York Mets. Unfortunately, there will be no Mets baseball tonight.

The Mets released an official statement addressing the recent postponement of their Subway Series games and their positive COVID tests.

Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News reported on what she has heard regarding the Mets flight back home and what we know of will come for this postponed Subway Series. The Mets, who were not infected, were reported to have taken three rounds of COVID tests within the past 24 hours. The team gave the Mets assigned seats on the flight home and they were spaced out six feet apart.

Matt Monogan of MLB spoke with some super-fans like New York’s own “Cowbell Man”, who walks around Citi Field with his cowbell every game, to see what he and other super-fans around MLB have been up to without being able to be at every game.

According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, the New York Yankees have acquired RP Addison Russ from the Philadelphia Phillies. Russ is a 25-year-old righty with 200 punch outs in 152.2 minor league innings. The Yankees had designated veteran David Hale for assignment and the Phillies have picked him up and he is heading back there.

The Baltimore Orioles have placed Chris Davis on the 10-day injured list and have recalled Ryan Mountcastle from their alternate site. Mountcastle will wear number 6 and make his major league debut with the Orioles.

Marly Rivera of ESPN reported that Gleyber Torres is likely headed to the Yankees’ injured list with a “tight left hamstring”.

Kiley McDaniel of ESPN mentioned that the Yankees have furloughed double-digit player development staffers Friday.

The Padres place relief pitcher Drew Pomeranz on the injured list with a shoulder strain, retroactive to August 19.

Britt Ghiroli of the Athletic reports that Stephen Strasburg has carpal tunnel according to Nationals Manager Dave Martinez. After seeing a specialist they came to this diagnosis and have agreed that” it has to be fixed” but there is no directive on what they plan to do, whether it be surgery or something else.

The Phillies have acquired Heath Hembree from the Boston Red Sox according to Robert Murray of MLB Insider. Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic adds that the deal includes Brandon Workman and cash in the Hembree deal in exchange for Nick Pivetta and Connor Seabold.

The latest news on Braves stars Ronald Acuna Jr. and Ozzie Albies is not too positive. Acuna went on the injured list with a left wrist injury on August 11 and Albies went down with a bone contusion on August 5. While Albies is closer to coming back, Acuna doesn’t seem to be able to make a comeback any time soon.

2007: Jose Reyes sets a Mets stolen base record after taking his 67th base of the season which surpassed Roger Cedeno who made his mark on Mets history in 1999. Reyes stole three bases in the Mets 7-5 loss that day in 2007.
