Good morning, Mets fans!

Though Pete Alonso and Juan Soto each homered Tuesday, it just wasn’t the Mets’ day. The Twins took advantage of a Francisco Lindor error and Max Kranicks first signs of kryptonite. All in all, the Mets fell 6-3. Bailey Ober earned the win for Minnesota, while Jhoan Duran picked up the save.

In the series finale, the Twins will send out David Festa (0-0, 0.00 ERA). The Mets are calling up Justin Hagenman as an extra pitcher today. Carlos Mendoza said it’s still unclear whether Hagenman will be the team’s starter or if they will use an opener.

Hagenman, 28, will be making his major league debut. He’s posted a solid 3.95 ERA across 395 1/3 minor league innings. This season in Triple-A, he’s allowed 11 runs (eight earned) over 10 1/3 innings, albeit with 12 strikeouts.

In contrast to previous reports (including one from MLB insider Héctor Gómez), Ronny Mauricio was not in St. Lucie for rehab. He was actually in the Florida Complex League for extended spring training, per Carlos Mendoza, just to clear up any confusion.

The Mets have teamed up with New York or Nowhere for a new campaign featuring Mike Piazza. In partnership with New Era and MLB, the debut collaboration drops this Thursday, April 17th, at 11 AM EST.

After completing a rehab assignment in St. Lucie, where he hit .375/.444/.708, Drew Gilbert is expected to be active for Triple-A Syracuse today, according to a report from Will Sammon of The Athletic.

Bartolo Colon and Gary Cohen’s autographs will be featured on a dual auto Topps baseball card commemorating Colon’s legendary homer.

A rehabbing Jared Young went 3-for-3 with a homer and two runs scored for Single-A St. Lucie Tuesday. The 29-year-old utilityman is on the Mets’ 40-man roster.

Jeff McNeil reached base three times on Tuesday and is now hitting .375 with a .920 OPS during his rehab assignment. He’s swinging a torpedo bat and will soon head to Triple-A Syracuse to log higher-level at-bats. Once he gets enough reps, Mendoza says he’ll be ready to rejoin the big league club.

Francisco Alvarez homered in his rehab game Tuesday with Binghamton but was hit by a pitch on his left hand—the same one he had surgery on—in the top of the 6th inning. He was removed from the game before the bottom of the 7th. Look out for updates to come.
