Good morning, Mets fans!

Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports that pitcher José Butto, who holds the 15th rank among the Mets’ prospects, won’t be making his planned start for Syracuse today. However, the Mets have been contemplating the inclusion of another starter on the West Coast to provide the rest of the team with an additional day of rest, and Butto may be a feasible candidate to fill that slot.

After an off day, the Mets (7-6) will resume action against the 3-10 Oakland Athletics, in Oakland with a 9:40 p.m. ET start tonight.

Now onto the morning briefing!

Eno Sarris of The Athletic talks about his experience of attending an event at Other Half Brewing in Brooklyn, which included panels, Q&A sessions, and collaboration food and drink. The event provided him with an opportunity to enjoy the city, try different beers and sandwiches, and watch baseball games. He decided to write a travelogue about their three days in New York City, hoping to inspire others to have equally enjoyable experiences.

David O’Brien of The Athletic has reported that Orlando Arcia, shortstop for the Braves, will be placed on the injured list after further tests revealed a microfracture in his left wrist. Although X-rays taken at Truist Park showed no damage after he was hit by a 98 mph fastball on Wednesday, an MRI and CT scan on Thursday detected the microfracture. The Braves are yet to announce the corresponding move for Arcia’s placement on the IL, but Vaughn Grissom is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett to fill in at shortstop while Arcia is sidelined.
