Mets fan, an all-new episode is here!

This week Mike and I recap the first homestand of the season against the Marlins and Padres, Tylor Megill and Kodai Senga continue their strong Aprils, we discuss the Mets slow start offensively, David Robertson and the rest of the bullpen’s solid start to the season. We also talk about where should Francisco Alvarez fit into the Mets everyday plans, Pete Alonso won’t stop hitting home runs, Jeff McNeil and Brandon Nimmo are walking machines, Mike updates us on the hot starts of Brett Baty, Mark Vientos, and Ronnie Mauricio in Triple-A.

Lastly, Baty needs to be in the major for the upcoming road trip.

Are the Mets doing their top prospect a disservice by not getting him in the lineup every day while he’s with the big league club? Mike thinks not only is it hurting Alvarez, but the team as well:

“I don’t think the Mets are doing or saying the right things when it comes to Alvarez. First Showalter said that Alvarez is going to play ‘some’, and then made a reference to college quarterbacks getting drafted and sitting on the bench, which didn’t make a lot of sense because that doesn’t really happen anymore. So that didn’t make a ton of sense from Buck at all, and so far we’ve seen it just in playing time for Alvarez, it worked out in the Mets favor but I would have liked to see him start in the last game against the Padres. I think you need to see Alvarez DH’ing a ton if he is not going to be catching a lot. I understand easing him into catching and still wanting Tomas Nido’s defense back there, but Alvarez needs at-bats plain and simple, however, Showalter seems pretty disinterested in doing so.”
