J.D. Martinez will join Triple-A Syracuse and play for them Tuesday and Wednesday, Carlos Mendoza said on Sunday. Mendoza added that Martinez could join the Mets when their home stand begins on Friday. The 36-year-old went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for St. Lucie on Sunday.

Adrian Houser got tagged for eight runs and seven hits while walking four batters in four innings, and the Mets couldn’t get anything going against Tyler Glasnow as they dropped their series finale against the Dodgers, 10-0. Shohei Ohtani clubbed a two-run homer off Houser, giving him the most homers by a Japanese-born big-leaguer.

The Mets begin a three-game series with the Giants today, with José Quintana (1-1, 3.05 ERA) facing off against righty Keaton Winn (1-3, 4.09 ERA). The Mets placed lefty Brooks Raley on the 15-day injured list with elbow inflammation and recalled righty Grant Hartwig. An MRI revealed no structural damage to Raley’s elbow. Raley dealt with the same injury in 2023, and he only missed the 15-day minimum.

Francisco Alvarez confirmed Sunday that he will undergo surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb on Thursday. The 22-year-old backstop expects to miss six-to-eight weeks.
