Good morning, Mets fans!

The MLB trade deadline has come and gone. And with that, the trade that many saw coming came to fruition in that Justin Verlander was traded back to the Houston Astros. The Mets also traded away Tommy Pham to the Arizona Diamondbacks and Dominic Leone to the Los Angeles Angels.

In return for Verlander, the Mets received two top prospects that will benefit the club’s 2025-2026 rebuilding vision that the organization is said to have, per a conversation that Max Scherzer had with the front office before he was traded to the Rangers.

Per Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Astros and Mets came into an agreement that sent Mets ace Justin Verlander back to Houston. Mark Feinsand of MLB.com elaborated on the details. The Mets will receive outfielder Drew Gilbert from the Astros, plus, as reported by Bob Nightengale of USA Today, outfielder Ryan Clifford. According to Mike Gianella of Baseball Prospectus, Gilbert was ranked 36th in Baseball Prospectus’s midseason top 50 (Luisangel Acuña was No. 59).

According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Arizona Diamondbacks are acquiring former Mets outfielder Tommy Pham from the Mets.

Per Will Sammon of The Athletic, the Mets traded relief pitcher Dominic Leone to the Los Angeles Angels. Joel Sherman of the New York Post elaborated in saying the Mets will receive Jeremiah Jackson.

Robert Murray of FanSided reported that the Mets have acquired pitchers Phil Bickford and Adam Kolarek from the Los Angeles Dodgers.

According to Michael Mayer of Metsmerized Online, new Mets prospect Marco Vargas has joined the Boras Corporation.

Baseball America on Tuesday released their latest list of “baseball’s 20 hottest prospects from the past week leading up to August 1.

SIS Baseball released their defensive runs saved leaders for the month of July. It included Mets’ shortstop Francisco Lindor. The others included:

Tim Healey of Newsday Sports shared an update on Edwin Díaz, saying the Mets are using a “data-driven process based largely on his strength, power, and objective testing to make sure we progress appropriately.”

Following the MLB Trade Deadline, Billy Eppler addressed the media, via SNY.

Via Tim Britton of The AthleticPete Alonso spoke with the media prior to the MLB Trade Deadline closing and stated, “I don’t know the future holds.” He added that he’ll give his all for the Mets for however long he’s there and that he had not talked with the front office ‘lately.’

The Mets announced that they selected the contract of outfielder Rafael Ortega and recalled right-handed pitcher John Curtiss, left-handed pitcher Josh Walker, and catcher Michael Perez from Triple-A Syracuse.

The Mets announced that they received right-handed pitcher Phil Bickford and left-handed pitcher Adam Kolarek from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for cash considerations.

Jeff Passan of ESPN reported that according to sources, the Miami Marlins acquired first baseman Josh Bell from the Cleveland Guardians for infielder Jean Segura and infield prospect Kahlil Watson.

Per Kennedi Landry of MLB.com, Wyatt Langford is expcted to be promoted form the ACL Rangers to High-A Hickory for Wednesday night’s game. In his first professional experience, he hit .385 with a home run, three doubles, and four RBIs in Arizona.

According to MLB, the Baltimore Orioles acquired Jack Flaherty from the St. Louis Cardinals.

Per MLB, the Milwaukee Brewers acquired left-handed pitcher Andrew Chafin from the Arizona Diamondbacks.

According to MLB, the Miami Marlins acquired infielder Jake Burger from the Chicago White Sox.

As tweeted by MLB, the Philadelphia Phillies acquired right-handed pitcher Michael Lorenzen from the Detroit Tigers.

Per MLB, the Toronto Blue Jays acquired shortstop Paul DeJong from the St. Louis Cardinals.
