Playoff Update
The Mets’ NL East rival Philadelphia Phillies now trail 2-0 in the NLDS. They fell 4-3 on Monday, coming just short of a ninth-inning comeback. They dropped both games in Philadelphia and will head to Los Angeles facing elimination.
In the other half of the NLDS, the home Milwaukee Brewers took a 2-0 lead over the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs led 3-0 in the first inning, but Milwaukee matched their three-spot and went on to score four more runs in a 7-3 win.
The NLDS is off until Wednesday. The ALDS resumes Tuesday. The Seattle Mariners are tied a game apiece with the Detroit Tigers, while the Toronto Blue Jays are up 2-0 against the New York Yankees.

The Mets have two players who are up for some hardware for their outstanding seasons at the plate. Juan Soto and Pete Alonso are finalists for the Hank Aaron Award, which is awarded to the MLB’s best offensive player.
Alonso had another excellent season in a Mets uniform. He hit .272 with 38 home runs and 126 RBIs. The Mets are eager to secure Alonso’s services with a new contract, ensuring his continued presence and formidable hitting prowess in Queens for many years to come.
Soto’s first season in a Mets uniform started off slower than anticipated. However, by season’s end Soto’s numbers were exactly where we all expected them to be. Soto finished his first season with the Mets hitting a career-high 43 home runs and a .396 OBP.
