Left-handed pitching prospect Steven Matz gets the starting assignment as the New York Mets take on the Detroit Tigers in Lakeland at 1:05 PM on Saturday. He will be opposed by fellow southpaw David Price.

Noah Syndergaard was originally slated for this start, but instead was sent to minor league camp after injuring his ankle on Friday.

Bobby Parnell is due to pitch in a minor league game on Saturday, his first game action since undergoing Tommy John surgery last April 8. Vic Black (shoulder) also is due to resume throwing on flat ground after completing anti-inflammatory medication.

Mets optioned first baseman Brandon Allen to minor league camp this morning.
