Bobby Parnell took a huge step forward in his return from Tommy John surgery and pitched in his first game in nearly a year on Saturday.

Parnell threw 20 pitches, 11 of them for strikes, and allowed two hits in a minor league intrasquad game in Port St. Lucie, the Mets announced.

Parnell has been sidelined with a strained hamstring for most of the spring, but feels good and he reportedly had no issues.

The team did not disclose how hard Parnell was throwing.

Parnell underwent Tommy John surgery last April 8, and his recovery and rehab has moved along very smoothly.
