The Mets and Phillies continue their four-game series in Citizens Bank Park at 1:35 pm on Sunday. Zack Wheeler (7-8, 3.48 ERA) will take the hill for the Mets looking to even his record, and he’ll be opposed by RHP Kyle Kendrick (5-11, 4.74) for the Phillies.
Wheeler has gone seven straight starts working 6.0 or more innings and allowing two or fewer runs. The last Mets starter with a longer such single-season stretch was Masato Yoshii in 1999 (August 18-September 30) when he had eight consecutive starts of 6.0 or more innings and two or fewer runs. Wheeler is 4-0 with a 1.59 ERA in that span.
Jeurys Familia earned his second save of the season last night in a 2-1 win. He also had a save on May 28 at Pittsburgh. Familia has surrendered two earned runs in his last 26 games (25.2 innings) for
a 0.70 ERA dating to June 12, the fourth-lowest in the majors over that . He is tied for third in the majors with 56 appearances.
Last night was Lucas Duda’s ninth game-winning RBI, which is the most on the team. He has a career-best 20 home runs, tied for the fifth-most in the NL, and has six home runs since the All-Star break, tied for the third-most in the majors over that time.
