The Mets will try to take the second game of their four-pack series with the San Francisco Giants tonight at Citi Field. Rookie of the Year candidate Jacob deGrom (5-5, 2.79) starts for the Mets and will oppose Jake Peavy (0-1, 4.50) for the Giants. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM.

DeGrom has recorded a win while pitching at least 6.0 innings and allowing no more than one run in each of his last four starts and is the first rookie in team history to do so. Since 1982, the only other pitchers with four-game streaks of that kind for any major league team in their rookie season are Roy Oswalt (2001 Astros), Jered Weaver (2006 Angels) and Matt Cain (2006 Giants).

The young righty has not allowed a home run in 59.0 straight innings, the second-longest current streak in the majors and the second-longest by a Mets rookie in team history. Mark Bomback went 60.1 innings without surrendering a home run in 1980.

Jeurys Familia has allowed one earned run over his last 21.2 innings dating back to June 12 for a 0.42 ERA, the third-lowest ERA in the majors over that span (minimum 20 innings). Familia has hurled a career-best 9.1 straight scoreless innings, tying a bullpen season-high.
