jon nieseThe Mets open up a wrap around series against the San Francisco Giants tonight at Citi Field. Jonathon Niese (5-6, 3.23) opposes Ryan Vogelsong (5-8, 3.94) in the 7:10 PM matchup.

Niese lost his second straight start, 5-2 on July 26th against the Brewers at Miller Park. He allowed three earned runs on five hits in 5.0 innings pitched, fanning four with two walks along the way.

The Mets have won five of their last six at Citi Field. They are 5-0-1 in their last six home series (beating the Phillies, Marlins, Braves, Rangers and Padres and splitting with the A’s). Overall the Mets are 27-24 at home this year and will play 30 of their final 54 games at home.

Duda hit seven home runs in July, tied for the second-most in the NL, one behind Anthony Rizzo. He drove in 19 runs, tied for the fourth-most in the NL and ranked third with a .610 slugging percentage. He finished the month hitting .293 (24-82) with a .396 on-base percentage.

Jon Niese is 5-6 over 19 starts this year with 114.1 innings and 3.23 ERA. His first two starts coming back from injury haven’t been the greatest as he’s allowed 7 ER over 11.0 innings of work. In a start against the Giants earlier this year, he held the Giants to two earned runs over 7.0 innings of work. The Giants have the following numbers against Niese:
