What you should know:

The Mets fell to the Nationals for the 14th time this season tonight behind a strong effort from starting pitcher Tanner Roark who won his 15th game of the season.

Bartolo Colon fielded himself into trouble in the 5th inning. After he failed to break off the mound to cover 1st base, Adam LaRoche made him pay with a big 3-run shot into the right field stands. It was LaRoche’s 6th home run this year against the Mets, the most against any one team.

The only Met with multiple hits was Wilmer Flores, who scored 2 runs and recorded his 12th double of the season.

Travis d’Arnaud hit his 3rd triple of the season but also committed his 9th error. That ranks 4th highest in baseball.

Carlos Torres, Josh Edgin and Daisuke Matsuzaka combined for 2 scoreless innings.

The Mets were a dismal 1 for 11 with runners in scoring position. They squandered multiple opportunities throughout the game including in the 7th when they loaded the bases twice and scored just a single run.
