Pitching

Noah Syndergaard dominated the first three Blue Jays hitters, as he struck out Curtis Granderson, Josh Donaldson, and Justin Smoak to open up the game.

Teoscar Hernandez led off the second with a single, however Syndergaard bounded back and rolled a pair of ground outs. After a Russell Martin two out walk, he struck out rookie Richard Urena to strand runners on the corners.

The Blue Jays struck right back to take a 2-1 lead in the third. Granderson singled with one out, then Smoak singled to center and Hernandez was hit by a pitch to load the bases with two outs.

Yangervis Solarte then snuck a two run single through the shifted infield.

Syndergaard bounced back as he struck out both Urena and Jaime Garcia en route to a 1-2-3 fourth inning. He ran into some trouble with one out in the fifth as Donaldson doubled and Smoak drew a walk. However, he rolled a 6-4-3 double play to get himself through five innings.
