According to Anthony Dicomo of MLB.com, the Mets have bumped up Jacob deGrom’s next start a day from Saturday to Friday night at Citi Field against the Diamondbacks.

DeGrom made his return from the disabled list on Sunday afternoon against the Phillies, but was removed as a precaution after throwing 45 pitches in the first inning. He will now pitch against Arizona on regular rest.

Steven Matz will now have his start pushed back one day to Saturday night, followed by Noah Syndergaard making his regularly scheduled start on Sunday afternoon. Matz will be pitching on an extra day of rest, and Syndergaard will be pitching on regular rest.

This change has enabled the Mets to split-up deGrom and Syndergaard in the rotation, which the club has been looking to do to hopefully give the bullpen a bit of a rest.
